She is passionate about creating spaces where people feel genuinely met in their experiences, especially in moments that feel uncertain, overwhelming, or difficult to put into words. Kiara approaches therapy with curiosity and care, trusting that each person holds their own knowledge and capacity for change.

Kiara works under the supervision of Kelly McDonnell, MA, MBA, RSW, RP, a senior therapist, clinical supervisor, and founder of Bliss Counselling. With Kelly’s guidance, Kiara provides thoughtful, supervised care while continuing to develop her own clinical voice. Her work is grounded in the belief that healing and growth happen through conversation, connection, and the stories we tell about ourselves. She works collaboratively with clients to gently explore these stories and make space for new possibilities to emerge.

She believes in treating others with respect, compassion, and positive regard. Valentina believes that it is important to make sure a client feels not only heard but understood. In her mind, the client is the focus, and their needs are especially important. She recognizes that while pain is an inevitable part of life, there are ways to increase joy and meaning each day. Duska Males (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who believes that healing happens in relationship — and that the challenges we face are rarely our fault alone. Shaped by the systems, relationships, and stories we’ve lived inside, the struggles people bring to therapy make sense when seen in context. That’s where Duska starts.

Her work spans trauma, identity, relationships, sex therapy, and life transitions. She brings a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and sex-positive lens to everything she does — and a genuine ability to sit with the heavy stuff without flinching. Clients often describe her as warm, grounded, and non-judgmental; someone who takes both the person and the problem seriously.

Whether you’re navigating something painful, something confusing, or something you’ve never quite had the words for, Duska’s goal is simple: to make sure you don’t have to do it alone.

Kim is a Registered Psychotherapist who completed her MEd in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto.

Kim draws from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic frameworks, including compassion-focused therapy (CFT), mindfulness-based therapy, acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy. She has advanced training in grief recovery and works with a variety of clients, especially supporting clients who are experiencing low self-esteem, self-criticism, burnout, breakups, life transitions, body acceptance issues, and parents needing support, especially parents and caregivers raising neurodivergent children.

Kim specializes in compassion-focused therapy (CFT), a form of psychotherapy grounded in research in developmental psychology, emotional neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, and Buddhism. Self-compassion is a cornerstone of empowerment and can be found through kindness to oneself, treating oneself as a friend. The strength that flows from this realization allows clients to transform from their own worst critic to their own strongest ally, capable of setting and maintaining healthy boundaries and of knowing what they need and want to live in peace and harmony. This strength also helps clients create change and set and meet goals with kindness and support, rather than self-criticism.

Kim believes that the relationship between client and therapist is rooted in respect, equality, and trust. This authentic connection is the foundation for growth and positive self-discovery. Through compassionate listening and empathetic personal engagement, Kim strives to maintain an open and kind space for her clients to gain insight, explore their fears, express their pain, and in which they can develop a deeper connection and peace within themselves and in their relationships.

Karen specializes in individual therapy with adults, using systems and attachment theories in conjunction with basic Buddhist tenets of mindfulness and compassion for Self and others, to guide client explorations through their own stories. This allows for a flexible combination of narrative and solution-focused approaches to identifying and articulating clients’ needs and goals, encouraging positive changes to help achieve them. Karen can help clients better understand the influence of interconnected thoughts, feelings, stories, values, and expectations on conscious and subconscious behaviours and decision-making patterns. She can also help reconnect them with the strengths and resources available to, and within, themselves in times of crisis.

Professional communications has been Karen’s job in one form or another for twenty-five years. She has previously been a technical writer and information developer in Waterloo Region’s IT community, and is deeply understanding of the myriad stresses found in High Tech—and the impacts those stresses can have on one’s personal, family, and professional life. She is experienced with a broad spectrum of relationship styles and power-exchange dynamics, gender identities, and sexual orientations, including almost 30 years with the BDSM, polyamory, and swingers communities in Southwestern Ontario. Karen has also trained as a support group facilitator for those who have offended sexually, through Waterloo Region’s Community Justice Initiatives.

Spiritual issues and resources from all faith traditions are explicitly welcome. She has been a student of Tibetan Buddhism for several years, and pursued her Master’s degree in counselling through the multi-faith environment of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary (Wilfrid Laurier University). Inclusion or exclusion of spiritual topics is entirely at the client’s discretion.

Christine started working in mental health over ten years ago with the ideology that you should “become who you needed when you were younger.” They have worked with individuals with a range of backgrounds. Their passion for working with grief and trauma grew over the years upon recognizing that our past experiences impact us more than we may realize.

Christine uses a postmodern approach drawing from their training in narrative therapy, mindfulness, IFS, and EMDR. They believe that together it is possible to create new stories of our lives that feel more empowering and genuine. They care about the messaging we have internalized throughout our lives and encourage individuals to determine what messages still serve them. EMDR allows them to reprocess some of these messages.

Christine is passionate about understanding our inner systems and how they influence our day-to-day lives. Through Internal Family Systems (IFS) Christine encourages their clients to go inside and explore their inner world. IFS looks at how/when/where different parts of ourselves come up to protect us (i.e. perfectionist, avoidant, people pleasing, rage, eating disorders, etc.), while also looking to heal and unburden our more wounded parts. IFS allows us to connect with our core self to help us show up authentically and make decisions from a self-led approach.

Christine also has extensive experience working with traumatic bereavement and first responders. Trauma can get in the way of being able to grieve our losses. EMDR can be helpful when we cannot access the good memories of those we have lost because traumatic images are flooding our minds. They also became passionate about working with first responders after being a crisis clinician working out of police detachments. During our darkest times, it is important to remember that we do not need to suffer in silence. Sometimes it is difficult to verbally express how we feel and we might not know how to ask our partner for support; this is when coming to see a therapist as a couple can be beneficial. Through guided sessions, couples are able to strengthen their bond and to learn the skills required to fully communicate with one another during the most challenging times. Using methods cultivated by the Gottman Institute for Couples Therapy, Christine is able to fully examine the relationship and determine its strengths, as well as the areas that need a little more development. As a Gottman trained therapist, they are able to provide suggestions to strengthen the particular areas of potential growth. Christine also incorporates an IFS approach within couples sessions to encourage partners to understand and voice their activated parts so communication can happen between both of their core selves. A blended Gottman and IFS approach can be especially helpful when one or both partners has experienced trauma.

When Christine is not working, they are most likely to be found being active or somewhere in the woods. Their giant Bernese Mountain dog is most likely not far from them.

Whitney has completed the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and is a Registered Psychotherapist at Bliss. Her approach is grounded in the belief that therapy isn’t about making life perfect. It’s about finding ways to live meaningfully even when circumstances are messy, unpredictable, or difficult. She brings this perspective from her own life: moving through change, uncertainty, and the natural imperfections of being human. For Whitney, progress has never meant holding out for “the right moment” or waiting until every piece is in place—it’s about starting where you are and making workable shifts now.

She works with both individuals and couples, recognizing that meaningful change can happen whether you are facing challenges on your own or within a partnership. For individuals, she helps identify priorities, uncover the deeper issues that fuel patterns, build resilience, and turn reflection into action. For couples, she offers a structured space to talk openly, strengthen connection, and develop tools to manage conflict and move forward together.

I have been a social worker since 2004 and I have worked in many different fields, with foster children, women’s shelters and in the hospital on the mental health unit. I have been a therapist for over 8 years and I truly love the work that I do.

Life isn’t easy and a lot of us have faced many issues over the years, especially with the changes covid brought. I believe all of us have lived through some traumatic experiences and have faced many difficult changes to how we live our lives. I also believe that we can learn new skills to help us cope with these life challenges and take new steps to creating a life we want.

Therapy is hard and taking the first step is the most important one. If I am not the therapist for you I have many amazing colleagues who would love to support you. Always remember one of the most important steps is finding a therapist you connect with.

I am now Supervising Social Work Students, please reach out if this is something you are looking for.

Many Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) and extended health care plans will cover services rendered by a Registered Social Worker.

Joanna didn’t become a therapist by accident—she became one by living the work first. After navigating her own seasons of divorce, co-parenting, and queer identity exploration, she learned firsthand how courageous (and messy) real change can be. Those lived lessons now fuel the empathy she brings to every session, especially for clients who feel “different” or on the margins—whether that’s because of neurodiversity, non-traditional relationships, or big life resets.

A proud social-work “double grad” (BSW from the University of Waterloo, MSW from Wilfrid Laurier) with five-plus years in clinical practice, Joanna blends evidence and intuition with equal finesse. Expect strength-based, narrative conversations that help you sift through the noise, spot your inner voice, and rewrite old scripts into new possibilities. Her toolkit draws on Attachment principles, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, and solution-oriented strategies—but the secret sauce is her empathic listening, the skill she relies on to build safety and spark real insight.

Joanna believes conflict isn’t a sign something’s broken; it’s a sign something’s ready to grow. That growth happens on your timetable, which is why she offers evening, weekend, and virtual options—therapy that fits real life, not the other way around.

Clinical Specialties: Relationship Therapy (incl. non-traditional constellations) | Separation & Co-Parenting Support | Conflict Coaching & Mediation | Family Therapy | Anxiety | Communication | Conflict Resolution | Depression | Life Transitions | Loneliness | Motivation | Stress Management | Work-Life Balance

Christina is a Registered Psychotherapist who marries artistic insight with evidence-based care. After earning an Honours BA in Visual Arts she completed a Master-level Diploma in Art Therapy at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute (DTATI, 2024). Her passion for relational wellness led her to complete the Advanced Certificate in Couple and Family Studies and two Intensive Sex Therapy certificates through the University of Guelph, grounding her work in modern, trauma-informed practice that honours mind, body, and relationship.

Outside of sessions, Christina is usually arranging flowers, chasing the perfect photo, or getting dragged down a trail by her two dogs (who truly believe the world revolves around them — and honestly, they’re not wrong). She’s a passionate photographer, a beach lounger who listens to waves like it’s a full-time job, and someone who recently fell back in love with the art of ikebana — floral meditation with a side of quiet rebellion and a reminder that beauty and balance often come from simplicity. Daily walks in the woods, muddy paws, and the occasional kayak paddle keep her grounded. As Norm Peterson once said, “It’s a dog-eat-dog world, and I’m wearing Milk-Bone underwear.” Christina gets it. Life can feel like that — and her own rituals of mindfulness, creativity, and humor are how she stays rooted in joy, presence, and a little bit of absurdity. She invites her clients to do the same — in their own perfectly imperfect way.

Clinical Specialties: Communication & Conflict Resolution | Emotional Regulation & Depression | Infidelity & Betrayal Recovery | Polyamorous, Open & Non-Monogamous Relationships | Sexual Desire, Fantasy & Pleasure | Trauma-Informed Healing | Life Transitions & Grief | Body Acceptance & Self-Worth
